Combating Health Disparities in Poor, Low-income Immigrant Communities

A Regional Health Collaborative formed by New York-Presbyterian Hospital is seeking to improve the health of residents in Washington Heights-Inwood, a predominately Hispanic Community in NYC with high rates of asthma, diabetes, heart disease, and depression. The early results are positive and include a significant 9.2 percent decline in emergency department visits. Experts agree this population-based model can be replicated in other communities facing cultural and social barriers to care. Importance of Growing the Pharmaceutical Sector in New York

Research by the New York Business Council’s Public Policy Institute found that biopharmaceutical research and manufacturing holds great promise for economic growth in New York.
